                    A person who closely collaborates with a doctor typically performs "medical scribing," the act of creating complete medical records for a patient. A medical scribe is the term used to describe this person. The scribe's job is to document patient histories, physical examinations, interactions with medical professionals, and other data in the patient's electronic medical record. They must ensure that the data is recorded truthfully and conforms with all applicable laws and regulations.


RESPONSIBILITIES OF A MEDICAL SCRIBE


1. Ensure that the electronic medical record (EMR) appropriately captures patient visits.

2. Enter pertinent patient data into the electronic medical record (EMR), including medical history, physical exam findings, and test results.

3. Accurately enter patient demographics, medical and pharmacological histories, allergy details, and other pertinent data into the electronic medical record (EMR).

4. Assist the physician with data entry, order entry, and other tasks as needed.

5. Adhere to all HIPAA rules pertaining to patient privacy and data security.
